Morecambe Brass Academy

About Morecambe Brass Academy:

The academy was set up about 4 years ago at the bandroom on Saturday mornings. The academy enables anyone who is interested to learn a brass instrument, to come along, have fun and enjoy the experience. We have nine tutors who are spilt up into different groups, three tutors for each group. All tutors have been CRB checked.

Tutors:

Anna Thackrah
Brenda Flood
Chris Larder
Clare Argent
Tony Mayor
Ian Stoneham also academy conductor.
Tom Stead
Rebecca Stead

What else do we do?

At the brass academy we want all learners to have a fun and exciting time when there. As well as learning an instrument we also have fun mornings. This allows tutors and learners to have a fun, relaxing and sometimes competitive morning.

Every week we also have a brass academy band that runs in-between the lessons. Ian Stoneham conducts this band and it is for any ability. The band helps and develops all players and at Christmas the academy band plays a few little Christmas carols at our Christmas concert.

Who can join the Morecambe Brass Academy?

The answer to this question is absolutely anyone from 8 to 88. We recommend that the youngest to be around about 8. This is due to been able to have enough lung power to blow the instrument.
